Edwin Louis / Lewis GARTH was born in Richmond, Victoria in 1893

His parents were Edward Sylvanus GARTH & Annie Amelia AVIS

He married Lydia Catherine HARWOOD in Victoria in 1921

He enlisted on 25th December, 1914 and embarked with the 8th Light Horse Regiment , 2nd reinforcements on 12th February, 1915 from Melbourne on the HMAT Armadale - he returned injured to Australia on 13th October 1915 and was discharged on 18th October, 1916

He re-enlisted on 28th July, 1941 to serve in the Army during WW2 and was discharged on 29th April, 1946

He was taken Prisoner of War (date unknown) at Changi and later returned to Australia and was discharged on 29th April,1946 - his last Rank was Lance Corporal with the 13th Australian General Hospital where he served as a nurse

Edwin died in Heidleberg, Victoria on 27th June 1959 & was cremated at Fawkner Crematorium
