Address at the time of enlistment was given as Macquarie Plains, Tasmania,
Son of John O'Neal and Catherine Lucy Jane O'Neal nee Hedge of Liverpool Street, Hobart, Tasmania.
Commenced return to Australia on 19 August 1919 aboard HT Ajana but failed to re-embark on 3 September 1919 at Newport, America. Continued return to Australia on 8 February 1920 aboard HT Ceramic disembarking on 25 April 1920 at Melbourne for onward travel to Hobart.
