Edward Kingsmill Seward PENNEFATHER was born on 9th June 1898 in Brisbane, Queensland
His parents were Charles Edward De Fonblanque PENNEFATHER (who was for may years the Comptroller-General of Prisons in Queensland) and Mary Rose SEWARD
The Pennefather River in Cape York was named in his Father's honour (Captain Charles E. de F. Pennefather)
He had previous service for 4 years with the Senior Cadets before he enlisted on 29th August, 1916 with the Australian Army - he was with the 15th Battalion, 25th reinforcements which embarked from Sydney on board HMAT Hororata on 14th June 1917 - later he transferred to the 41st Battalion
He returned to Australia on 13th July 1919 & married Phyllis Mary Eyre HEMPSTEAD in 1931 in All Saints Church, Brisbane.
Edward died in 1976 in Brisbane, Queensland
He was awarded the British War Medal & the Victory Medal.
