Andrew Rae Honan

Andrew Rae Honan was the tenth child and seventh son of Michael and Margaret Honan March 11th 1874 at Paratoo, South Australia.
At this stage, little is known of his early life, he appears on the 1906 NSW electoral roll living at Cobalt St, Broken Hill working as a miner.
He enlisted in the AIF on May 19th 1916 at age 42. He was allotted service No. 2911 in the 43rd Infantry Battalion.
On August 15th 1916 he married Bridget Mary Frances Morrissey in St Patricks, West terrace, Adelaide.
Andrew was discharged as ‘overage’ from the AIF on December 27th 1917.

He is listed as living in Adelaide in 1919 working as a Clerk, living at 3 Gray St, by 1921 he was operating a mixed business at 220 Hindley St. In February 1921, Bridget (Mary) his wife took ill and died on the 6th February and was buried at West Terrace cemetery (Catholic section).
In 1925 Andrew was listed as working as an overseer at Cordillo Downs Station.

Andrew died on November 26th 1935, listed as a retired Storekeeper and living at Avenue Rd Paradise (in Adelaide) and is buried in the war graves section West Terrace.
