Private WILLIAM MARRA, fourth son of Mrs. Thos. Marra, sen., of Belvidere, has been killed in action. He was the second soldier to enlist from Belvidere district, and he had been on active service for two and a half years. He arrived in France in April, 1916, and for 12 months was associated with the Lewis guns. He went through most of the big battles of 1917, including Pozieres, and Bullecourt. In January last he was sent to England as an instructor, and remained for six months. He rejoined his battalion in July, and fell in action on August 30. Private Marra possessed a genial temperament, and was a fine specimen of Australian manhood. His youngest brother, Herbert, has also been upon active service for two years. Much sympathy is felt for the bereaved family.
