We deeply regret to record the death of Mr. William Alfred Forsythe Postmaster at Wyalong for the past 24 years, the sad event taking place at Wyalong on Sunday. He had been failing in health for the past six months. The late Mr. Forsythe, who was 58 years of age, came to Wyalong from North Sydney two and a half years ago to accept the position of Post-master. He was a veteran of the South African War and the Great War. He held the rank of Captain in the 13th Battalion during the Great War. He was also a Justice of the Peace and in every respect was a very fine type of citizen whose passing is universally regretted. In both his official and private capacity, he was very highly esteemed by the people of Wyalong and district. The Flag at the Returned Sailors and Soldiers' Club Rooms was flown at half-mast today.
There was a representative attendance at the funeral this (Mon-day) afternoon. Officials and members of the local Returned Sailors and Soldiers Club, and sub-branch of the R.S.S.I.L.A., attended and acted as pall bearers. The coffin was draped with the Union Jack and Australian Flag. The remains were interred in the Presbyterian portion of the Wyalong Cemetery, the Rev. Mark McAlpine officiating at the graveside. The Last Post was sound-ed by Mr. R. Madden. Messrs R. and G. Stephenson were in charge of the mortuary arrangements.
Deceased is survived by Mrs. Forsythe and one daughter, Zelma.
