Sidney Ernest ALLASON was born Beaufort, Victoria
His parents were Robert Keen ALLASON & Sarah JOHNSON who married in Victoria in 1872
He married Dora MARTIN in Victoria in 1905 - one daughter Sarah Elizabeth - Dora died in NSW in 1907
Sidney served in the Boer War (SN 168) as a Trooper in the 1st Battalion, Australian Commonwealth Horse & the Mounted Rifles and left at the end of the Boer War
He enlisted in Melbourne on 7th October, 1914 (SN 574) to serve during WW1 & embarked with the 9th Light Horse Regiment, 1st reinforcements on 6th February, 1915 on the HMAT Surada - he was returned to Australia in 1915 due to disciplinary charges and was discharged on 17th July, 1915
He re-enlisted in Brisbane on 16th August, 1917 (SN 7681) and embarked with the 9th Infantry Battalion, 26th reinforcements from Sydney on the HMAT Euripedes
Sidney was Killed in Action in France on 4th July, 1918 - no known grave
His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial & the Villers Bretonneux Memorial
