29 Sep 1918: | Honoured Military Medal, "Private Robert DAVIS stretcher bearer was attached to a Battalion during the attack upon the "Hindenburg Line" east of RONSSOY on Sunday 29th. September, 1918 . He advanced with the Battalion under considerable shell fire up the valley, attending to the wounded and carrying them back to the Relay Post, the are traversed being subject to severe machine gun fire. From the R.A.P. he assisted in the evacuation, working consistently during forty-eight hours, during which time it was necessary to pass over country heavily and consistently shelled by the enemy. By his good work he and the remainder of squad assisted very greatly in the speedy evacuation of wounded from this post. | |
