WILLIAM CHARLES FIELDING No: 39341
Field Artillery Brigade
William was born in July 1897 in Wigan, England to Joseph and Elizabeth (Hodgkinson). On 25.6.1912 he arrived in Brisbane with his family.
Enlisted 30.4.1917 in Townsville and embarked from Sydney on 30.4.1918 aboard Port Darwin bound for Egypt. He embarked for France on 8.10.1918 where he was attached as a driver to 12th Field Artillery Brigade. Returned to Australlia on 20.5.1919.
He married Lily Dorothy Reed on 5.3.1921 and resided in Proserpine from 1960. Their son William enlisted in WW2 and served 341 days in Middle East, 489 days in PNG and 267 days in Tarakan. He was promoted to Lance Corporal with 2/2 Aust. Transport Co.
William Fielding passed away 14.7.1977 and was buried in the Proserpine Old Cemetery, section NP-5-272.
