Add my storyBiography
Ross Pledge was married to Ethel Sophia Pledge and resident at 12 Gilbert Street Gilberton when he enlisted in June 1916. He was 28 years old and a well driller by vocation.
He was allocated to the 8th Reinforcements of the 8th Machine Gun Company, which was attached to the 8th Brigade. After training he travelled to Melbourne with the rest of his reinforcement draft. Of the men comprising this draft all but three were South Australians. The other three were from New South Wales. They embarked on the HMAT Medic A7 on the 16th December 1916.

RSL Records indicate that Ross Pledge joined the RSL in August 1919, by which time is address as given as Frederick Street Maylands. He did not remain a member for very long, his membership lapsing in 1921.
He died at Keswick (whether in the Military Hospital that was located there is not clear) aged 61 on 30 August 1949.
