"It is with regret that I have to report the death of another of our comrades at the Dardanelles — J. C. Spratt. This is the tenth who has given his life for his fellow-men. The builders' laborers are fairly well represented, over 250 having enlisted. Many have left wives and families behind." - from the Adelaide Daily Herald 24 Jul 1915 (nla.gov.au)
