Private Horsington served with Salvage Recovery-
Australian Army Salvage Service. He was 57. He was accepted, after research,.for commemoration as war dead on 21/09/2011

Alfred Clive HORSINGTON was born in Sydney on 1st November, 1886
His parents were Alfred Cornelius HORSINGTON & Sarah Marcella RIORDAN nee RYAN who married in Sydney in 1885 - she was previously married to Thomas RIORDAN in Sydney in 1879
He married Ethel Maud GALLAGHER in Sydney in 1913 - 4 known children, Alfred, William, Sheila & Doreen
He previously served in the 8th regiment of the Irish Rifles for 2 years before enlisting in WW1 - he embarked from Sydney on 20th December, 1915 on the HMAT Suevic with the 20th Infantry Battalion, 7th reinforcements and returned to Australia on 15th May, 1917 on the ship Beltana & was discharged on 9th June 1917 as medically unit (56th Infantry Battalion) -he also served in WW2 in the Eastern Command Salvage Recovery Section (Sydney Showground)
Alfred died of illness in the Prince of Wales Hospital in Randwick on 11th March, 1944 and is buried in Woronora Cemetery in Sydney

His brother Archibald Henry HORSINGTON (SN 3119) was Killed in Action in France on 20th July, 1916 (56th Infantry Battalion)
His son William Cornelius HORSINGTON (SN NX4223) served in the 2/1 Field Ambulance during WW2 and was discharged on 30th October, 1945
