My Great Uncle
I never met my Great Uncle James Codona Thomson (his name is recorded on his Australian Imperial Army documents as James Codona Thompson).
1913 Great Uncle James had heard Australia was the land of opportunity. Long story short he travelled through out back Queensland mostly on horse back eventually arriving in Brisbane. He signed up on the 7th April 1915. Members Number: 420. Rank: PTE. Unit: 26 Battn. Great Uncle James returned to Australia to recover from injuries he had suffered.
1921 Great Uncle James booked passage on the SS Themistocles to return to England and his sweet heart, they married and had 3 children.
