Lionel Edward Baldock, a soldier ranked private in the Australian Imperial Force. He was born on the 24th of march, 1890 in Booleroo Centre, South Australia. Before deployment, Baldock was a Mason's laborer. Lionel had no prior involvement in any other wars or military services. He was 5"9(175cm), weighing 129 pounds (58kg). Lionel's parents were Mary Baldock and George Henry 'Bee' Buldock. He was the 6th of seven siblings, those being 5 boys and 2 girls. His religion was recorded as Church Of England. He was the first of his family to enlist for military service

Lionel enlisted on the 30th of November 1914 in Oaklands, South Australia. He was assigned to the 12th Battalion, 3rd Reinforcement and embarked from Adelaide on the HMAT Itonus A50 on the 15th of February as a Private. On the 8th of August, 1915, his unit was reinforced and deployed to Gallipoli. Tragically, on the 15th of August, he sustained a shock injury to his back, which led to his transfer to England on the 9th of September. In September of 1916, he would go to Etaples, France. Lionel Rejoined his unit on the fourth of April, 1917 when his unit was back in England. It is believed, though not confirmed, on the 20th of September, 1917, Lionel Edwards Baldock was killed in action in Belgium.
