26 Mar 1917: Honoured Military Medal, 'This N.C.O. of the Signalling Section has acted as a linesman for some months. This work is at all times under present conditions, both a dangerous and an exacting one, but L/Cpl WRIGHT has at all times shown himself untiring in his work and contemptuous of shell fire. In particular, during the period November 1st - November 6th., 1916, in the FLERS Sector on three separate occasions he had to pass through a severe barrage in order to mend the lines, and he succeeded each time in establishing communication. During the period December 31st, January 7th, 1917, in the GUEUDECOURT Sector communication with front line was cut off during the day; still this N.C.O. on all occasions when the lines were broken by shell fire, carried on his work in the open, whether day or night, and succeeded in maintaing communication by telephone between Battalion Headquarters and front line companies, which was most important and most valuable, although many times WRIGHT had no sooner returned to his dug-out than he had to set out again to mend another break.'
