Private 3896 Clifford (Cliff) James Searle MM

 

Service in - Egypt - Gallipoli - Western Front

 

Cliff was the son of James and Emma Searle of Marrickville NSW his father James played cricket for NSW and was involved in establishing Baseball there and inducted into the Baseball hall of fame in 2005 he was president of the Manly District Cricket Club with which his two sons Clifford and James have been actively associated

While serving in 5th Field Ambulance in France Clifford and 2902 A.T.A. Watters were awarded

The Military Medal for conspicuous bravery in the field 

 

After the war Cliff married Dorothy Gladys Burns and they had two sons Clifford Edwin & James Lloyd and he worked at his father’s sports store James Searle & Sons 315 Pitt St Sydney 

 

Clifford’s son Clifford Edwin Searle 37291 WO, served in The Royal Australian Air Force WWII - 1941 to 1946
