Edward left for the Western Front from Sydney in 25th of November, 1916 aboard the HMAT-A72 Deltona, after enrolling on November the 8th, for France along with 900-1000 other men.

During his service, there were no notes found about his time at war. He did his duty until the war ended in 1918 without any wounds, promotions or any sort of award.

When the German Empire surrendered in 1918, he had to stay in Europe until their unit was discharged on the 23rd of June, 1919 where we would return home to his wife, Ida Harris, in Sydney where he would live a full life until he died in 1967.

Edward was 80 when he died. He is now buried in Rookwood Cermatorium. He did not recieve any medals, wounds, citations or punishments during his service.
