Walter Henry WHITMARSH was born in Sydney on 11th April, 1891 1891

His parents were John Lloyd Lake WHITMARSH & Florence Emma Lydia BROWN who married in Sydney in 1889

He enlisted in Casula, NSW on 31st January, 1916 and embarked with the 59th Infantry Battalion, 3rd reinforcements from Melbourne on the HMAT Port Lincoln on 4th May, 1916

He was invalided back to Australia due to illness,  arriving on 16th May, 1919 and was discharged on 30th June 1919

He married Annie DAVITT in Sydney on 27th December, 1920

Walter died in Sydney on 9th November 1961
