Cromwell Coron MUIR was born on 17th July, 1898 in Auckland, New Zealand to Robert Coran MUIR and Adele Clara PLUMMER who had married on 17th September 1887 in Tasmania where his Mother was born - his father Robert was from Scotland & died in NZ in 1899 the year after Cromwell was born - his Mother Adele died in 1949 in Deloraine, Tasmania

He first enlisted for WW1 in 1918 in Launceston & embarked from Sydney on the ship Malta on 16th October 1918 - he was discharged on 24th September 1919 due to demobilisation - he was awarded the British War Medal & the Victory Medal in WW1

His brother George Washington MUIR also served in WW1 (SN1030) & returned to Australia in 1919

In 1929 he married Ena Grace BUTTON in Tasmania - she died in 1998.  They had two children Graham & Mary

Cromwell enlisted again for WW2 from Brighton in Tasmania on 28th April, 1943 - he was with the Australian Citizens Military Force in the Army Dental Corp, 78 Dental Unit

On his birthday on 17th July, 1943 he was involved in a serious motor car accident when he collided with a tram.  He died on 23rd July, 1943 in Launceston General Hospital from his injuries and is buried in Carr Villa Cemetery in Launceston - his name is also commemorated on the Australian War Memorial and the Launceston Roll of Honour
