John Andrew Bathurst KERR was born on 1st January, 1876 in Marston Sicca, Gloucestershire, England
His parents were Howard KERR and Mary KERR who married in England in 1869 - his father was a Captain in the Royal Navy and after he retired the family moved to New Zealand in 1884
John enlisted in Liverpool, NSW on 7th January, 1916 and embarked with the 6th Light Horse Regiment, 19th reinforcements on the RMS Mongolia on 8th July, 1916 - he transferred to the Imperial Camel Corp on 7th September, 1916
He was Killed in Action on 19th April, 1917 in the 2nd Battle at Gaza - no known grave
His name is memorialised on the Jerusalem Memorial, the Gate Pa WW1 memorial in New Zealand and the Australian War Memorial
