George James Argent WING was born in Preston, Tasmania on 12th October, 1893

His parents were George Henry WING & Edith DELANEY

He enlisted in Pontville, Tasmania on 30th August, 1914 and embarked from Hobart on the ship Geelong with the 3rd Light Horse Regiment, C Squadron

George died from pneumonia in the Military Hospital in Cairo, Egypt on 6th February, 1915 - he was the first Tasmanian to die in WW1

He is buried in the Cairo War Memorial Cemetery, Row B, Grave 152

His brother Roy William Draper WING also served in WW1 (SN 3407) and (SN 727) He was discharged on health grounds in 1916 but re-enlisted a year later and served until the end of the war
