Guy Satterswaite DEVONSHIRE was born on 5th November, 1892 in Melbourne, Victoria to William Henry DEVONSHIRE and Amelia SEBO - His father came from Falmouth in Cornwall UK and his mother was from Geelong in Victoria
He attended Duntroon Military College and received the Commission of Lieutenant in 1916 before enlisting in Adelaide on 11th January 1916 & embarked on 16th December 1916 from Adelaide on the HMAT Berrima
He had previous service for 3 years in the senior cadets & 2 years CMF and 10 and half months in the AIF (WW1)
He was with the 43rd Infantry Battalion, 6th reinforcements
On 19th April, 1919 he left to return to Australia on the ship Sardinia and was discharged on 12th July, 1919 due to the end of hostilities - he received the British War Medal and the Victory Medal
His brother Captain William Pendennis DEVONSHIRE (DSO & MID) also served in WW1
On 25th September, 1920 he married Doris TYNAN at St Pauls Church in Adelaide, SA.

Enlisted on 8th September, 1942 in Strathfield, Sydney NSW - he was living in Keswick, South Australia at the time - he was a Major with the 18th Garrison Battalion (Home Defence)
He was discharged on 28th August, 1946 - Rank- Lieutenant Colonel (HQ 3 MD)
Guys son Peter Satterswaite DEVONSHIRE (SN-40792) served in the RAAF in WW2 and died in 1942
He died on 9th November 1974 late of Linden Park in South Australia and was cremated at Centennial Park Cemetery (RSL portion, wall 107, niche C004)
