Biography contributed by Chris Buckley

William was the fourth of five children of William Kevin Snr (born 1845 in Londonderry, Northern Ireland) and Jessy O'Hara (born 1851 in County Cork, Ireland). William was a Miner when he married Jessy in Rockhampton, QLD in 1875, and they raised their family at Reid River via Charters Towers in QLD. William died in 1885 and Jessy in 1895.

William's brothers were Miners at Reid River, and William was working as a Labourer when he enlisted in the AIF in January 1916. He served as a Private (Service No:6297) with 15th Infantry Battalion - with a chequered career of AWoL incidents, including going AWol in Cape Town on his return to Australia and having to make his own way to catch up with the Anchises in Durban. William was Discharged in November 1919.

William was working in Brisbane as a Labourer when he married Gladys Mary Smith (born 1892 in Brisbane, QLD) in 1921. They settled in Brisbane and raised their family, and William worked as a Labourer until he retired in 1943. William died in 1951 and Gladys in 1963.
