15 Sep 1919: Honoured Military Medal, "The Last Hundred Days", 'During operations east of PROYART on 23rd/26th August, 1918, Private KAINE regardless of personal danger advanced under heavy Machine Gun fire to a position from which he used his Lewis gun with such good effect that he killed the crew of an enemy Machine Gun which was holding up the left flank of the Company and thus allowed the advance to continue. He continued to deal similarly with other Machine Gun nests until objective was gained. His work was of great value and certainly minimised our casualties.'
