Oswald Stewart WEMYSS was born in South Melbourne in 1883

His parents were Arthur Charles WEMYSS and Mary Jane JOHNSON who married in 1881 in Victoria

He had previous service for 3 years with the Rifle Club at Stuart Mill in Victoria before he enlisted in Dalby, Queensland on 21st September, 1914 as a Private with the 15th Infantry Battalion - he embarked with E Coy on 22nd December, 1914 from Melbourne on the HMAT Ceramic

Oswald was Killed in Action on 29th April, 1915 - no known grave

His name is memorialised on the Lone Pine Memorial, the Australian War Memorial and the Dalby Honour Roll in Queensland

He was awarded the 1914-15 Star, British War Medal & the Victory Medal.
