Husband of Lavinia Ann Oriel nee Mellampy of McDougal Street, Milson Point, NSW. William and Lavinia married during 1902c in Dubbo, NSW.

Granted leave with pay from 1 April 1919 until 16 May 1919 for experience in shearing machines with Wolseley, Sheep Shearing Machine Company, Birmingham, England

Commenced return to Australia on 6 September 1919 aboard HT Euripides disembarking on 24 October 1919
