Son of John Francis Mulkearns and Jessie Mullkearns nee Johnstone of 16 Byron Street, Moonee Ponds, Victoria. Brother of Geoerge Thomas Mulkearns, Helena Mary Mulkearns, Francis Gregory Mulkearns, Eileen Veronica Mulkearns and Austin Charles Mulkearns

Medals: 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal

Previously served with the Carlton Infantry and Essendon Rifles

He was a successful athlete at College. He was als a member of St Francis Choir Melbourne and  of St Patricks Old Collegians Association
