Mr. G. M. ("Monty") Anderson, senior studio supervisor for the Australian Broadcasting Commission in Hobart for the past eight years, who died in Hobart yesterday morning. He was aged 52. He leaves a widow, a son, and daughter. A Tasmanian by birth, Mr Anderson was a member of the A.B.C. for many years, and worked in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne before returning to take up his appointment in this State. In addition to his normal duties, he was well known for many outside broadcasts for the A.B.C. He was a founder and a producer of the famous "Fragment" entertainers, who raised £6,000 for charity after the First World War, in which he served with the 26th Battalion.
There was a large and representative gathering at the funeral at Cornelian Bay on Saturday of Mr G. M. ("Monty") Anderson, who died at Hobart on Thursday. The A.B.C., in which Mr Anderson had been senior studio supervisor at Hobart for eight years, was represented by the acting manager (Mr A. C. Jowett) and members of all departments. Chief mourners were Messrs J. Anderson (son), E. Anderson (brother) and E. A. Lawrence (father-in-law). The service at the crematorium was conducted by the Rev Nash, of St. George's Church, Battery Pt. The Rev A. F. Thomas referred to Mr Anderson's war service, and service to the public as a member of the A.B.C.
The service of remembrance was recited by Mr E. W. Lacy, secretary of the Hobart sub-branch of the R.S.L. A large number of representatives of the 26th Battalion, of which Mr Anderson was a member in the First World War, were present.
