Arthur George Greenwood was the second of 13 children of John Joseph Greenwood and Sarah Ann Craker.

Brothers Frederick William and Cyril Henry also served in the AIF in WWI

Arthur worked as a Farm Hand in Gippsland Victoria, and between 1909 and 19012 as a Labourer in Broken Hill, New South Wales.

He enlisted in the AIF on 17 January 1915 in Boolarra, Victoria and was a Driver and Private (Service No: 1945/1763) with 5th Reinforcements 8th Australian Infantry Battalion. 

Private Arthur Greenwood was in the Gallpoli Peninsular when he was evacuated initially to hospital in Malta with influenza and then to hospital in England.

On rejoining his Battalion, Private Greenwood served in France.

He survived and took his Discharge on 29 June 1919

Arthur returned to Gippsland in Victoria where he worked as a Labourer.
