Son of Jacob Obadiah Elphick Moon and Isabellaa McLinock Moon nee Furley of 1114 Dana Street, Ballarat, Victoria, formerly of Dawson Street, Ballarat South, Victoria.

Brother of Phillis Elphick Moon, Roy Elphick Moon, Amy Elphick Moon, Douglas Elphick Moon and William Elphick Moon who was  killed in action on 25 June 1917 while serving with the 8th Field Artillery Brigade and is buried in Pont-D'Achelles Military Cemetery, Plot 11, Row D, Grave 13
