Biography

"OBITUARY. Mr. F. W. Faulkner

Mr. Frank W. Faulkner, Melbourne manager and director of Huddart, Parker Ltd. and subsidiary companies, died at his home in Como-avenue, South Yarra, yesterday, his 52nd birthday. Mr. Faulkner had been in ill-health for some months. He spent the whole of his working life with Huddart, Parker. He went there from Melbourne Grammar School, served in all departments of the company, including a term at sea as purser, and 17 years ago was appointed to the position he occupied until his death. Mr. Faulkner rendered conspicuous service during World War 1, fighting at Gallipoli and in France. He won the Military Cross and bar, and was several times mentioned in despatches. He left the A.I.F. with the rank of major. War wounds — he was twice wounded in action — contributed to his death. Mr. Faulkner leaves a wife and married daughter, who is in England. After a service to-day at 3 p.m. the funeral will leave Sleight's chapel for SpringVale Crematorium." - from the Melbourne Age 24 Jun 1947 (nla.gov.au)
