Private James A. Dodd's older brother, 40526 Private Joseph Luke Dodd (www.aucklandmuseum.com) was living in New Zealand during this period and enlisted with the Auckland Infantry Regiment, 1st Battalion, New Zealand Expeditionary Force. He was killed in action in Belgium on the 7 August 1917, age 23.
