Son of William Simmons of NSW
Defacto of Zillah Smith (previously known as Zillah Simmons and had declared to be the wife of John) of 37 Brown Street, Paddington, NSW. In January 1920 a special inquiry officer questioned Zillah as to whether or not she was the wife of John Dudley Simmons and admitted that they had lived as husband and wife but had not married however there was a son Robert from the relationship
In December 1919 Base Records queried as to whether Zillah was deceased or still living as they had received a letter stating that John had married Margaret Hannah Truscott of 54 North End, Sutton Veny, Wiltshire, England on 15 September 1919. Hannah refused to come to Australia. At the time Zillah was residing in Leichhardt, NSW
