Son of Alfred Henry Turton and Ellen Turton nee Sykes of Clifton Terrace, Red Hill, QLD. Brother of Alfred Henry Turton who died of Pneumonia on 27 August 1918 while serving with the 11th Field Artillery Brigade and was buried in the Brookwood Military Cemetery, Plot 1V, Row D, Grave 11
