Biography contributed by Jack Mccabe

He was initially assigned to the 20th Battalion, then to the 56th Battalion and finally to the 51st Battery, Royal Field Artillery.  All his time overseas was spent in the Middle East.

On 17 April 1916 he severely strained his back and suffered a hemorrhage in his spinal cord and was paralyzed.  This condition was not permanent but he was declared unfit for service and sent back to Australia and discharged on 7 March 1917.

Known Military Awards: 1914/15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal.
