Charles Wentworth Parnell Fitzpatrick enlisted at Woomelang, Victoria aged 24yrs old. While serving in the Middle East campaign he suffered several successive bouts of malaria. He returned from duty on 07 August 1919.

He married Elizabeth Dunn in 1923 and they had four children; James, Terence, Michael and Mary.

Charles died aged 55, while Elizabeth lived until 1953. Charles his wife and parents are all buried in Willunga's St Joseph's Catholc Cemetery.
