Son of Henry James and Caroline Clark of 'Burnside', Avenel, Victoria. Brother of Alan James Clark who was killed in action on 3 October 1918 while serving with the 2nd Australian Pioneer Battalion and has no known grave. Name appears on Villers-Bretonneux Memorial
