Biography

Claude Lyndon SHORTER was born in 1884 in Petersham, Sydney NSW

His parents were William Thomas Ashton SHORTER and Margaret CHIPPENDALL

He enlisted on 28th May 1915 with the Australian Army - 2nd Battalion, 8th Reinforcements - Unit embarked from Sydney on board HMAT Runic on 9th August, 1915

He was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on 12th March, 1916

Claude died on 24th July 1916 at Poziers, Somme , France aged 29 years & is buried in the Warloy Baillon Communal Cemetery Extension, France- he is also listed on the Australian War Memorial
