Arthur Farrar was born around December 1894, son to Albert Victor Farrar and Mary Farrar, in Ballarat, Victoria. He was brother to George, Phillip, Annie and Doris Farrar and attended school at Eureka Street State School. As a young man he worked as a navvy until embarking to go to war on the 31st of August, 1914, at the age of 19, after enlisting at in Morphetville, SA.

As a soldier he was ranked private and was granted the service number 901. He fought in the 10th Battalion and made the ultimate sacrifice, dying in battle at Gallipoli on the 2nd of May, 1915. Unfortunately, the whereabouts of his body remains unknown and is still missing to this current day.
