Wallace Abrook was born on the 2nd of November 1885, in Franklin Harbour, South Australia, to his father John Abrook and his mother Elizabeth Anne Roberts Abrook. Wallace had 3 siblings, a brother named John Abrook Jr and 2 sisters named Sydney Abrook and Rosina Abrook Noble. Wallace had brown hair and brown eyes, he was 5 feet and 9 inches tall, he weighed 142 lbs and his chest was 33.36 inches wide. Before enlisting Wallace worked as a farm labourer.
On the 20th of June 1916, Wallace enlisted for the war at the age of 20. He did not have any military training he just joined to fight. Wallace's unit was the 5th Australian Pioneer Battalion, he embarked at Adelaide 13th July 1916, South Australia and was on board the HMAT Seang Bee A48.
He was slightly wounded with a GSW to his left arm 7th March 1917. He recovered and returned to duty in May. He spent further time in hospital soon after with influenza and again was hospitalised with influenza in March 1919.
Wallace is in one memorial, it’s at Arno Bay in the Arno Bay Cemetery, the Memorial ID is 113704109.
Wallace passed away on the 26th of May 1976, at the age of 80 years old.
