“OBITUARY
ANDREW WILLIAM ANDERSON-
The death occurred in the Proserpine District Hospital on 30th October of Mr. Andrew William Anderson, aged 70 years. Deceased was born at Bowen where he received his education and lived for a number of "years. He came to Proserpine over 50 years ago and followed the occupation of butchering, working for Mr, J. Osborne. Later he left this work and followed the baking trade; being employed by Mr. J. Setter for a number of years. He then went into business with a cousin, Mr. W. Thormahlen, as bakers in Waite Street,. Following this trade for some time Mr. Anderson then decided to try his luck at droving and it was whilst droving with E. McKenzie, during the first World War, that he enlisted from Rockhampton.
He saw service overseas and on being discharged returned to Proserpine. Since then he has worked in the Proserpine district, mostly following stock work. He has been with his cousin, Mr. H. F. Deicke at Proserpine Station since 1925.
He is survived by one sister, Mrs. W. Boston (Bowen).
The funeral was attended by representatives of the Proserpine Subbranch of the RSSAILA and the coffin was draped -with the Union Jack. The service at the St. James' Presbyterian Church and at the graveside was conducted by Rev. D. C. Blake.” Proserpine Guardian 07.11.1947
