Campaigns Served:   Egypt

War Service/Promotions:   Taken on Strength at Abbassia, Cairo, Egypt, ICC, 20 February 1917. Wounded in action with No. 2 Coy. ICC, on 24 April 1917 admitted to No. 26 Stationary Hospital, Abbassia, suffering wounded left foot. In hospital until 22 May 1917, then transferred on 23 May 1917 until 18 June 1917, to hospital in Montazah, Alexandria, Egypt. Taken on Strength at Abbassia on 23 June 1917, and joined No. 2 Coy. ICC at El Kabri on same day. On 31 January 1918 to be Lance Corporal to camp establishment in Rafa, but reverts to ranks at own request on 15 February 1918. On 1 July 1918 transferred to and Taken on Strength in 14th Light Horse on reorganisation in Surafend. Then appointed Temporary Staff Sergeant on 22 November 1918. In Egypt until 26 March 1919 when he contracts scabies, and is eventually admitted to 14 Australian General Hospital, Abbassia. Transferred to rest camp on 18 May 1919. Reverts to Trooper on 26 May 1919. Marched out to Aust. Base Depot, Port Said, on 24 June 1919 and embarked to Australia from Suez, Egypt, on 17 July 1919. Discharged from AIF on 2 November 1919.

Fate:   Returned to Australia per SS Dunluce Castle, 17 July 1919, disembarking 30 August 1919, Sydney, NSW. He married his brother Claude's widow, Magdalene Hungerford (nee Prentice), 25 November 1924, Nambour, Qld.

Place of Wounding:   Shrapnel (gunshot) wound left foot, 19 April 1917, near Gaza, Egypt.

Place of Death:   6 March 1958, Brisbane Hospital, Herston, Brisbane, Qld
