William Moylan was the son of Patrick and Mary Margaret Moylan, of Brocklesby Post Office, NSW. He had been born on Coree Station, between Narrandera and Jerilderie, NSW.
William served unscathed at Gallipoli from late August 1915 until the evacuation. He was promoted to Lance Corporal during June 1916. His mates stated he was killed by shellfire on the 29 July 1916. His grave was located after the war and relocated to the Pozieres British Cemetery.
His brother, 6298 Lance Corporal J.R.E. Moylan 4th Battalion AIF was twice badly wounded in France in 1917 and 1918. Another brother 5140 Corporal J.P. Moylan 55th Battalion AIF was gassed during 1918. Both the brothers returned to Brocklesby during late 1919, with brand new English brides, to a huge welcome home in the village of Brocklesby.
