War Service/Promotions:   He arrived in England 29 December 1916. On 11 February 1917, he was transferred from 3rd Ref. L.T.M.B. to 36th Battalion in England. Proceeded overseas to France 25 April 1917. By 20 May 1917 he was marched in from Etaples, France, to Le Havre, France. On 14 September 1917 he was Taken On Strength in the 36th Battalion in France, and then on 12 December 1917, wounded in action with a gunshot wound to left leg in Passchendaele, Belgium. He was moved to France on the 13 October 1917 and then transferred to HM Hospital Ship Grantully Castle, for England on 22 October 1917, being admitted to Queen Mary's Military Hospital, Whalley, Lancashire, England. He remained in England until his return home in April 1918.

Fate:   He returned to Australia per HMAT A30 Borda, 5 April 1918. He married Dorothy Ellen Sabina Davey ('Dolly'), 19 April 1920, St Paul's Cathedral, Rockhampton, Qld.

Place of Wounding:   Gunshot wound, left leg, Passchendaele, Belgium, 12 October 1917.
