William James Robinson served twice in the South African (Boer) War and then served again in WW1. First service was as a Bugler S.N. 356 in the 4th Queensland Imperial Bushmen (Boer War), second service was as a Bugler S.N. 1992 in the 3rd Battalion, Australian Commonwealth Horse (Boer War) and third service was as a Driver S.N. 1709 in the Field Artillery Brigade 3, Battery 7 (AIF WW1).

He was born in Brisbane on 5 Nov 1880, a son to William Robinson and Agnes Robinson (nee Gregg). He married Violet Louisa Jane Sheehan on 29 Aug 1906. He served as the Hon. Secretary of the African War Veterans Association.
