CARL SIMEON PIRANI who died in Western Australia on 25th April 1918 was the eldest son of S. G. Pirani (No. 479 on the School Roll). He was born in 1889 and entered the Prep. in 1899. Next year he came up to the Senior School and won the Witherby Scholarship in 1902. He matriculated in 1904, and on then leaving School
entered the Melbourne University and graduated Bachelor of Science in 1907.
Subsequently he embarked upon wheat farming in Western Australia. He was in the 10th Battalion, and while in Egypt became seriously ill and was invalided to Australia. His malady had obtained such a hold that he was declared permanently unfit, and was discharged on 30th October 1915 with a small pension. He went
back to his farm in Western Australia, but he never recovered, and died on 25th April 1918.
Carl Plranl, a returned soldier, died In a Kalgoorlie express train last week, while on his way to the base hospital. Pirani was the son of a well-known solicitor la Melbourne. Before the war he and young Fink, son of Mr. Treodore Fink, solicitor, of Melbourne, were partners in a farm at Kununoppin. Both went to the war together, and before going made their wills in each other's favor. Fink was killed and Pirani returned invalided quite recently.
Obituary
We regret to announce tlie death of Mr. Carl Pirani, a member of this Association, who was etyly in the field as a farmer of the Kunnuuoppin district.
When war broke out he enlisted and saw service at Gallipoli. His health, since his return to his farm, had not been satisfactory and he recently came to the city in order to seek medical advice. On Saturday last he passed away, and on Sunday the remains of the deceased gentleman were interred in the Jewish portion of the Karrakatta Cemetery. His demise will be regretted by a large circle of friends. Mr. Pirani, who was a young man when death over
took him, was educated at the Melbourhe University.
