Enlisted on 10th Nov 1915 at age 18 years & 1 month. Occupation stated was Livery Stable Manager. The Christey Family were heavily involved in the Horse Trade in Sydney from about 1862 in Surrey Hills & surrounding areas of Sydney
Charles departed Sydney per HMAT 'Pera" (A4) 22 Mar 1916 He served in the Light Horse Regiment - 15-34 Reinforcements. All of his war service was in Egypt, returning to Australia from Port Said per 'Dorset' 29 Apr 1919 arriving 11th June 1919.

Charles married Hilda (nee Hiddleston) in 1933. After working as a Storeman he turned to working as a Theatre Wardrobe Master and became involved with acting along side Hilda, who was an accomplished actress. They appeared in many stage productions the attached photograph depicts him costumed for his role as General Birabeau in 'The Desert Song'
