He embarked from England for Fremantle on 9 December 1918 on board HT Argyllshire, and was attached to 11th Infantry Battalion at Discharge on 23 June 1919.

Born in 1888 in Roebourne WA, Vivian was the third of eight children of William (Billy) Edward Robinson (b1858 in Brookton, WA) and Mary Frances Parker (b1861 in York, WA). Billy (a Pastoralist) and Mary married in Dangin WA in 1884. In 1873, at the age of seventeen years, Billy had accompanied his two Uncles from Brookton to Roebourne, driving 3,000 sheep. Billy developed Mt Florence Station in the Pilbara - where he and Mary settled - until the drought in 1891 - and in 1897 the family family moved south and took up land at Pingelly. Billy was a Farmer in Brookton. Mary died in 1925 and Billy in 1950.

Vivian spent his early years on Mt Florence Station via Roebourne, and by 1912 was a Pastoralist on Boodarrie Station in the Pilbara. Following his service in WWI, Vivian was Station Manager at Coongan Staion in the Pilbara. In 1921 in Rose Park in South Autralia, Vivian married Emily Joyce (aka Joyce) Murray (b1894 in Snowtown, South Australia). Vivian and Joyce settled at Coongan Station in the Pilbara where they raised their family and Vivian was Station Manager/Pastoralist. By the 1940s Vivian and Joyce had moved to Burekup, where Vivian was a Pastoralist. Vivian died in 1959 and Joyce in 1982.
