Biography contributed by Ian Fox

Victoria's Birth, Deaths and Marriages show that Charles was born in 1894 [and not 1896 as suggested by his WW2 service records].

In WW1, Charles  served in Gallipoli and was wounded in October 1915. In Heliopolis in January 1916, it was found that Charles had valvular heart disease and he was subsequently invalided to Australia in March 1916.
