Biography

"...3125 Private (later Lance-Corporal) Robert Sydney Turnbull 9th (later 49th) Battalion of South Brisbane, Qld. Son of Hugh and Margaret Turnbull. A bottler prior to enlisting, he embarked from Brisbane aboard HMAT Warilda (A69) on 5 October 1915. He was killed in action on 4 September 1916 near Pozieres, France, aged 26.
